Sorry I'm late, I got distracted..

You guys!

First of all, belated Merry Christmas! Woooo!

I totally had a content schedule and had initially planned to post a Christmas related blog post a few days prior to Christmas but as some of you may already know, I got a little distracted, then overwhelmed (lol - as you do).

Bad Patch and New Apartment!

I have this theory about good things and bad things. I'm not too sure when I started basing things off of it, but I was talking about it the other day to my girlfriends and realised that it was something that I haven't really had to articulate before. Although, it's not even really that uncommon so if you're expecting something epiphanical then...sorry! (lol).

Basically, it's pretty much just the rule of three - "Omne trium perfectum"*.

Good Things happen in threes and Bad Things happen in threes.

Our Aussie Engagement Shoot

Oh my gosh, I can't believe it's December! What the heck?
We originally had our engagement shoot pencilled in for the last weekend of November but things didn't work out that way - which was totally fine anyway because last Saturday's weather was awesome!

Yes, okay, I can hear some of you thinking "didn't they already have an engagement shoot?", but that was in London and this is the Aussie one, and I feel like if we didn't get photos done in Sydney our memories just wouldn't be complete, y'know? And what else would the pre-wedding months be if they weren't one giant, cheesy ball of Couple Things. Not that we need an occasion to appreciate each other but this was funnn!

Living Apart After Living Together

There comes a point in your life when people around you start warning you about having to share your space with someone else. Moving out of the family home and living with another person, etc etc. Everyone is always like, oh, you're going to love it. You guys are going to kill each other, blah blah blah, growing pains. But one thing people don't always talk about is what it's like when you have to adjust to the opposite. When you've gotten used to living together for a few years and now have to live apart again.

Crap Realtor Experience

Steve and I have been apartment hunting for the better part of a few weeks now and as much as a lot of people like to think that it's super stressful and it's a sucky way to spend your weekends, we're actually not having that bad of a time. Maybe it's because we're doing it together, but we've found that we've been having whatever little fun can be had while attending back to back apartment inspections. It's not too bad but it also probably helps that we're not in that much of a rush to move out, ha!

But, yeah, as you can imagine, if you've been in this situation before you'll know that it's not the most relaxing thing to be doing and it's also pretty tiring and time consuming, so the last thing you'd be asking for on a Saturday morning is a realtor that is absolute CRAP.

No Money November is going great, thanks!

Okay, so as November continues to pass us by there is one thing that has been lurking in the back of my mind that has quite literally just turned into one giant neon sign flashing urgently at me over and over again...and will probably continue to do so until the event is over.

THREE MONTHS UNTIL THE WEDDING!

Holy sh*t, guys. Where I was once ever so blasé about it all has now been replaced by me listing out every Single F*cking Thing that still needs to be done annnd then freaking out about it.

Sh...It's getting real!

Hello everyone!

For those of you who don't know, I've been in the midst of wedding planning for the better part of a year now and, well, the title is a pretty big clue on what this post is going to be about.

At the moment we're sitting at the four(ish)-months-until-the-big-day mark and I'm finding that things are slowly coming together as opposed to earlier this year when things still seemed a little surreal. I think some of it may have still felt "theoretical" because all we were doing was booking things and researching suppliers and all that. But this time around...this time there's physical evidence! There are props and dresses and shoes and rings. Guys! There are rings!

Let me just RSVP...

I had a somewhat epiphanic thought the other day and you know what it was?

It's not until you're older that you realise the real value of a sincere RSVP.

Let's start with the basics.

RSVP stands for the French phrase "répondez, s'il vous plaît" which means "please respond". "In the context of social invitations, RSVP is a process for a response from the invited person or people" - Wikipedia.

It doesn't mean "only respond if you're coming", it doesn't mean "reply when you feel like it" and it certainly doesn't mean "no RSVP means you're not coming".

Suicide Squad! Or, maybe just--Squad.

Alrighty, time for some word vomit as I take a break from the other WIPs I'm working on and the editing I should be finishing up. As the title suggests, went to watch Suicide Squad with the squad last night. And before any of y'all be like, I'm not squad...booooo! it is perfectly normal to have multiple SQUADS. So, there!

Bibliophile Birthday Wishlist

This post is for all the lovely people who are good at remembering dates and have been asking me what I want for my birthday.

Tbh, I'm still struggling to get rid of so much stuff - slowly, but surely! (I have attachment issues - I have to work my way up to getting rid of stuff, that's why it's taking so long, lol). But! What is almost always a constant in my life is, yes, you guessed it, BOOKS! YAY!

After being absent for more than two years, my bookshelf needs a serious revamp. I hardly bought books while I was in Europe because, well, how the heck was I supposed to bring them back?! (Although, I did cave on some of the ones I found irresistible, ahem, Rainbow Rowell). So, for this year - the big Milestone That Shall Not Be Named - if you would like to get me a little something-something, then please see below and have a hand in decorating my library =)

When I Say Summer, I mean SUMMER.

Good morning!

I'm not kidding, it really is a good morning for me as I had a really good sleep last night and didn't have to suffer trying to sleep through the 30 degree heat, yay! Thank goodness for having a fiance with an air conditioned bedroom.

Sydney's in the middle of a heat wave right now - again. For those who haven't experienced an Aussie summer it goes a little something like this:
Monday: Hot
Tuesday: Hotter
Wednesday: Oven
Thursday morning: BBQ
Thursday afternoon: The hottest most possible thing you'll ever experience

And then come Friday morning it's pretty much a fridge with rain.

Yes, you read that right. The temperature literally climbs and climbs all week then crashes 10 degrees along with buckets of rain. It's weird. Consequently, it seems that Aussie summers aren't anything you really forget once you've grown up with them, and it's like second nature to be having two showers a day and to walk around in thongs - the ones that go on your feet.

Here is what I did forget during the two years I was gone though...

First Post of 2016!

It's twenty-SIXTEEN!

I've never been one of those individuals who get super excited about the start of a new year. I mean, of course, I don't flaunt it in front of everyone else who's super excited about it, but the beginning of the year has always brought with it more a sense of anxiety and nervousness than anything else. Nervousness because I just don't have a clue what the year has in store for me and anxiety because - just like every other year before this one - I'm probably going to try really hard not to fail -- and that is always stressful. Ha!

While everyone else is making a list of resolutions they'll probably break by March, I find that I'm more content with coming up with one to three really broad, general, things that I think I could realistically accomplish by the year's end.

This time, however - I'm a little excited.
