When I Say Summer, I mean SUMMER.

Good morning!

I'm not kidding, it really is a good morning for me as I had a really good sleep last night and didn't have to suffer trying to sleep through the 30 degree heat, yay! Thank goodness for having a fiance with an air conditioned bedroom.

Sydney's in the middle of a heat wave right now - again. For those who haven't experienced an Aussie summer it goes a little something like this:
Monday: Hot
Tuesday: Hotter
Wednesday: Oven
Thursday morning: BBQ
Thursday afternoon: The hottest most possible thing you'll ever experience

And then come Friday morning it's pretty much a fridge with rain.

Yes, you read that right. The temperature literally climbs and climbs all week then crashes 10 degrees along with buckets of rain. It's weird. Consequently, it seems that Aussie summers aren't anything you really forget once you've grown up with them, and it's like second nature to be having two showers a day and to walk around in thongs - the ones that go on your feet.

Here is what I did forget during the two years I was gone though...

1. Having to splash water on your arms and face, or slicking ice cubes over your neck and ears because it just doesn't make sense to jump in the shower again, but it's 30 degrees at 9AM and you just can't deal.

2. Closing all the windows and doors by mid-morning because the wind coming from outside is hotter than whatever the temperature is inside the house.

3. Feeling your eyeballs shrivel up while sitting in the car without air con at a traffic light because it's only a 5 minute drive to the shops.

4. Sitting down and sweating.

5. Lying in bed and sweating.

6. Sweating.

7. Getting branded by the metal part of the seat belt.

8. Getting burned by the leather seats of your old Camry because your car has been sitting outside all day.

9. How enjoyable it is to eat ice cream on a hot day.

10. How acceptable it is to walk around in just a singlet, shorts and thongs because, Straya.

As uncomfortable as it sounds though, I am and always will be a summer girl at heart. There's just something about the sunshine (as strong as it is) that makes one feel so invigorated and less depressed.

Lastly, some blog notes from me. I am working on taking more photos, I swear. Although I am totally content with just writing loads and loads of text, I know it'll benefit this blog if I added photos to it. Especially for those who are a little more visually inclined, ie, don't read. Le sigh.

Slow and steady wins. Stay cool, friends!
